New York
-
CASYM Steel Orchestra has a special relationship with New
York City. For over twenty-three years CASYM has
provided academic and cultural youth activities to the New
York metropolitan area with particular emphasis on the Crown
Heights, Flatbush and East Flatbush areas. Moreover,
the organization has a very special relationship with the thousands of
young people, parents and supporters who have been
associated with this institution.
In addition to being one of the top music education
organizations in the New York area, CASYM is one of the best
performing steelband music orchestras in America.
Impressively, they are equally known for their programs that
promote youth development and empowerment. The
organization has provided scholarships for every high school
graduate in its program since 1990. Few, if any other
steelband-related organizations can boast a successful
commitment to academic achievement and education.
