Trinidad, WI: Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) delegates
attending last Saturday’s installment of Parang and Steel concert series staged
by PCS Silver Stars Steel Orchestra were given a rousing culture send-off on
November 28.

Silver Stars, the reigning national Panorama champion joined forces with
songbird Wendy Sheppard and Point Fortin-based parang group Sancouche at the
host orchestra Tragarete Road, Newtown, Port-of-Spain, headquarters.

Judging from the mood of the tourists the cultural package soothed them
following days of intense discussion in various forums at (CHOGM).
Those accepting the invitation for this outing surely had no regrets gauging
from the Carnival-of-a-time they had.

Silver Stars reached into its gem-filled repertoire and delivered international
favorites such as Celine Deon’s I’m Alive, Love Theme from Barry White and
Phantom Of the Opera from Andrew Lloyd Webber.

It’s mix of calypso items coated the party atmosphere that pervaded.
Selections from the latter genre filling the precincts of Silver Stars panyard
included Goal from the late Maestro (Cecil Hume) and Party from the Stalin
(Dr Leroy Calliste).

Sheppard won over patrons for her delivery of Sparrow’s (Dr Slinger Francisco)
medley, that included Melda as well as Drunk and Disorderly, while Sancouche had
license for all the authentic serenal to complete the parang and steel
experience under the stars.
