Vancouver,
BC, Canada –
Film maker
Ricardo
Scipio has
announced
that his
third
feature
film,
“Finder of
Lost
Children”
will
be
premiering
at the
Hollywood
Black Film
Festival in
Los Angeles
at the
Laemmle
Theater #1,
Wednesday,
June 3, at
3:00 p.m.
The film
features an
original pan
score by
Danish
recording
artist/panist/arranger/
composer
Sune Borregaard.
Created
without any
funding, and
relying
solely on
the loyalty
and
support of a
volunteer
cast and
crew, the
film was
shot in 26
days
in and
around
Vancouver in
the spring
of 2007. Scipio
previously
wrote and
directed the
feature
films “When”
and
“Watershed.”
Touching on
personal
experiences
of Scipio’s
as well as
a tacit
thread in
West Indian
culture,
“Finder of
Lost
Children”
follows two
half sisters
(Maye and
Angie) on a
journey
across
Canada in
the effort
to weave
together
fragments of
a paternal
family
neither had previously
known
existed. Set
in the
Caribbean
community of
Canada,
this film
embodies the
humor, pain
and
irrepressible
spirit of
the Caribbean
Diaspora and
platforms it
poignantly
with unique,
multi-layered,
provocative
characters
and a hard-hitting,
often
glaringly honest
storyline.
“The surface
hasn’t even
been close
to being
scratched as far as the
stories that
can and
should be
told about
the
Caribbean
Diaspora.
The
Caribbean
experience
is far too
rich and
profound not
to find a
more
prominent
place in
the film
industry. To
me this
story embodies all
that’s
good and
bad,
beautiful
and ugly in
our world
culture.
It’s
the perfect
starting
point to
making
challenging
personal
films”
states
Scipio.
The
Hollywood
Black Film
Festival
runs from
June 2nd to
7th.
