Trinidad
& Tobago, W.I. - The former President of Pan Trinbago
Inc., Patrick Arnold, has been nominated for the 2011 Sunshine
Awards Hall of Fame.
Arnold (pictured), who was
recently
awarded Trinidad & Tobago’s second highest national award:
the Chaconia Medal (Gold), will be recognized for his contribution
to the steelband movement and music. He has served the movement
as a player, tuner, administrator and president of the world
governing body for pan, Pan Trinbago, from 1996 to 2009.
The 23rd Sunshine
Awards takes place on Saturday 22nd October 2011,
at the AXA Equitable Center, 787 Seventh Avenue, New York,
USA. This year, the program is dedicated to the United Nations
Declaration of 2011: The International Year of African Descendants.
The event will begin with a cocktail reception, followed
by the presentation of awards and a live show.
The Sunshine Awards was founded
in 1989 to recognize and pay tribute to the creators, performers
and promoters of art, dance, music and poetry of the various
Caribbean islands.
