LYRICS

Verse 1
We have the session bouncing
Just tell the world
We celebrating something, feelings unfold
Going hard to the limit
Jammin’ hard with ah spirit
Ah hear the tenors ringing
Oh what ah song
Look how the notes just trembling on the pan
We go rock all night showing we hand
This is feel good music, you can’t refuse it
Make way for the tenor pan in conversation, yes

Chorus
Spreading hands, spreading hands, spreading hands,
Spreading hands, let’s wave
Tonight tonight we go jump and sway
Nothing to beat this ramajay
Tonight tonight we go break away
If you feel nice do it twice, There’s magic in the air
Happy and we doh care
Spreading hands, spreading hands, spreading hands,
For the carnival

Verse 2
Can’t resist the magic
Fire on steel like ah guiding moonlight
One you can feel
Like ah guiding moonlight one you can feel
We go take you up to the sky on a panorama vibes
Ah hear a bass man pounding
Dung dung dung dung
Feel like thunder rolling all over
We can feel pan rage
Burning the stage
This is pan on tempo, so let it all go
This is land of the rhythm
Happy so let, yes

Chorus
Spreading hands, spreading hands, spreading hands,
Spreading hands, let’s wave
Tonight tonight we go jump and sway
Nothing to beat this ramajay
Tonight, tonight we go break away
If you feel nice do it twice, There’s magic in the air
Happy and we doh care
Spreading hands, spreading hands, spreading hands,
For the carnival

(repeat chorus ) out side

Kenrick and Kenneth Headley

Panist, arranger and composer Kenrick Headley from Tunapuna Village in eastern Trinidad finally decided to throw his hat into the Panorama composing arena. Kenrick Headley with his brother Harold were members of the Esso Tripoli Steelband that toured with Liberace under the tutelage of Father Jon Sewell and manager Hugh Borde. During this time, Kenrick became an in-house arranger with Tripoli arranging many of their popular music tunes like the Jackson Five’s “I want you Back.”

After touring with Tripoli, Kenrick maintained his presence in the Steelpan fraternity, assuming arranging duties together with his brother Harold (The Headley Brothers,) for Flamingoes, Exodus (1982-86), Invaders (1987-88), Birdsong (1991-94), Humming Bird Pan Groove (2000), Arima Angel Harps (2001-2002) and Tunapuna Tipca.

Under the watchful eye of his father Kenrick, son Kenneth Headley grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada wanting to be a steelpan arranger himself. He has played in numerous Panoramas in Trinidad with Birdsong, Exodus and Invaders steel orchestras, starting at the tender age of 5. Now as a young man, Kenneth is looking at gaining his own voice as a steelpan soloist, arranger, and composer. Kenneth attributes his influences to both his famous father and uncle (The Headley Brothers), former New York-based classmates Khuent Rose and Freddy Harris, III, along with Leon “Foster” Thomas, and other young arrangers like Amrit Samaroo, and Duvone Stewart.

When vocalist Oscar B, touring with Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires came to Vancouver he met up with the Headleys, and the idea to create a tune for panorama 2010 was born.

“We just wanted to let people know that there is Pan and good pan players in Vancouver B.C. We have many solid players such as Gary Pena, Adrian Hartley (Phase II tenor men), Guinness Cavaliers elders Tony ‘Jerro’ Blackman, Clifton Brown Pierre and Bambi Ali - who all actively play in Vancouver. This offering for Panorama is exciting, musically fluid, and vibrant.”
