Final Night Order of Appearance for Large Steel Orchestras - Trinidad & Tobago National Steelband Panorama 2016

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I.
-  After quite a short runaway for the 2016 Panorama season giving rise to some intense weeks of practice, for the ten best large steel orchestras in Trinidad & Tobago, the end is finally in sight.  With the first of two South/Central bands—Fonclaire Steel Orchestra—kicking off the most impassioned phase—final night—in the large category this weekend, Saturday February 6, the other equally-determined nine bands will deliver what is expected to be lots of scintillating and exhilarating steelband music as each vies for the coveted title of National Panorama champion 2016.

The ten large steel orchestras will follow on the heels of their medium category counterparts in an overall event with a scheduled start of 7:00 p.m. at the Queen's Park Savannah in the capital of Port-of-Spain. With semi-finals scores giving a 'general' idea of what final night results could look like, expect reigning Panorama champions Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra to come out swinging in their own musical defense (especially gleeful probably, of playing in that coveted last spot), while newcomers to the large band category—direct from the 'small' band arena—Supernovas Steel Orchestra led by arranger Amrit Samaroo, have laid down the musical gauntlet from their semi final position of second place.  They are also the only representative from the Eastern region to make it through to the finals. Desperadoes Steel Orchestra tied for third place in the semis, and are surely looking to break that tie - preferably with a leap straight to the top.  2014 winners Phase II Pan Groove who are coming into the finals in first place after the last competitive round, are intent on staying put. With their spirited rendition of "Madd Music" steeped in the Panorama tradition, their arranger Len "Boogsie" Sharpe is sure to have not simply his musicians dancing.

Skiffle Steel Orchestra comes with the novel approach of a threesome doing the honors with respect to arranging.  New York arrangers Kendall Williams, Marc Brooks and Odie Franklin who go up annually against each other for the New York Panorama, in the Trinidad & Tobago Panorama arena put their heads, souls and multiple skill sets together for a musical production of 'How She Like It' brought to life by the very lively and competent south-based Skiffle, with the aim of making Panorama history in the twin-island republic.

All ten steel orchestra, including the lone competitor from sister isle of Tobago, Redemption Sound Setters, are expected to ‘throw down’ as they let it all out and leave nothing to chance.  Regionally, one orchestra hail from the East, six represent the North, two hail from South/Central and one—Redemption Sound Setters—from the sister isle of Tobago.  And the following order of appearance will no doubt have some impact on their presentations, and perhaps even their eventual placing.
