...The mission set we on the track,
We aiming for the top,
Like a rocket dey can't stop,
From a little village band,
To becoming champions,
It gets brighter with each moment past;
We are the Supernovas
We burning up the skies,
Is a fresh new take, it bound to make,
We have the people and dey to....

Breakthrough -- composed by Amrit Samaroo & Mark Loquan

Like their name implies, this part of the tale was set in motion long ago and foretold by the stars. And one thing is for sure, like an exploding star, we all saw them coming.

When Supernovas Steel Orchestra takes the stage at the 2016 Trinidad and Tobago National Panorama finals to meet their destiny, they will be carrying the hopes and dreams of not only a community, but that of supporters from all over the world. Armed with the massive talent of their players and a steadfast commitment to hard work, sacrifice and excellence by all involved - the success of the franchise has been phenomenal.

This year the Supernovas have made the improbable transition from the small steel orchestra category to the prestigious large orchestra (120 players) category in just a few short years. Riding the streak of a very successful showing in the recent International Panorama where they placed 2nd in a field of twenty three other competing orchestras from all over the world - Supernovas intends to successfully execute the plans and vision of their CEO and musical director Amrit Samaroo.

Their mission is clearly defined as articulated in their tune of choice “Breakthrough” sung by Chuck Gordon and composed by Amrit Samaroo and Mark Loquan. The song was written specifically for the orchestra's 2016 Panorama journey. Amrit - already a highly respected arranger, song writer, educator and producer, can now add managerial and business accruement to his portfolio.  In a relatively short time the Supernovas brand has become one of the most recognized music organizations world-wide. The intelligent navigating, skillful marketing and leveraging of their professionalism image and musical prowess and competition successes locally, nationally and internationally, have caught the attention of music and entertainment enterprises globally.

Performing in position #5 Supernovas is believed to be one of the orchestras that could take the crown at this 2016 Panorama finals. At the conclusion of the semi-finals Supernovas (272.5) only trailed the leading Phase II Pan Groove (274) by 1.5 points. As Amrit Samaroo told When Steel Talks after the semi-finals, “Work now start.”

So if you get an alert to put on your sunglasses in the middle of the night, and you witness an exploding star overhead - not to worry - it's only Supernovas Steel Orchestra meeting their destiny.
