2014
Basement New
York
steelband
panyard
recordings
captured the
performances
of some of
the finest
steel
orchestras
in North
America. In
addition,
some of the
world’s most
outstanding
and
respected
steelpan
music
arrangers
participated
in the
prestigious
2014 New York

The
competition

extremely
fierce, as of
the eleven

contended,
no fewer
than six

2014 panyard recording
session
The
recordings
were all
done a few
days before
the panorama
competition
with the
customary one
take each
for the
slower “cool
down”
version and
the faster “tempo”
version. The
recordings
give the
listeners
unparalleled
acoustical
access into
the inner
complexities
and workings
of a steel
orchestra,
and creative
musical
thought
process of a
world-class
steel
orchestra.
Those
captured
this year
(made even
easier this
time around
due to the
generosity
of
Steel
Sensation’s
‘Pan Mobile’)
are
ADLIB,
CASYM,
Sonatas,
Pan Fantasy,
CrossFire
and
Despers USA
along with
D’Radoes,
the eventual
and
newly-crowned 2014
Panorama
champion.
In addition,
we’ve added
to the play
list, ‘road’
(‘red carpet’)
highlights
that
captured a
few of the
bands before
they entered
the
competition
staging
area. Those
orchestras
are
Pantonic,
Metro,
Harmony and Steel Xplosion.
