‘Do Something for Pan’

The talented Saché Alexander was born in Mt. Hope, Trinidad in 1992 and received her primary and secondary education at St. Rose’s Girls and Bishop Anstey High Schools, respectively.  Ms. Alexander is currently an educator in music theory and Spanish at Bishop’s Centenary College, while she herself is pursuing a BA of Science degree in Geology at the University of the West Indies.

Her career as a singer/performer started at the age of 6 in the genre of Calypso under the guidance of her father Leon Greene.  Saché’s musical ability flourished on attending Bishop Anstey High school where she joined the choir under the leadership of Ms. Lorraine Granderson who exposed her to various genres of music outside of her comfort zone - that being Calypso. Saché Alexander performed with the choir at  every musical festival in Trinidad & Tobago from 2003 to 2009, and also visited Wales, Prague and Vienna during this period.  While still at Bishop Anstey, she competed in various local calypso competitions as well as her country’s national junior soca monarch competition.

Saché Alexander is also a member of the parang band Voces de Promesa and performs as a vocalist at various Christmas events and in Trinidad & Tobago’s National Parang competition. As a young lady, Saché continues to find avenues to utilize her singing talent for the love of music.  

Composer, steelband arranger and panist Len “Boogsie” Sharpe

Len “Boogsie” Sharpe is an ace composer, musician and arranger.  A world-renowned performer in his own right, Sharpe has received many accolades and awards including his country’s Hummingbird Medal (Gold) for his contributions to the development of the steelpan artform.

As a cultural icon in Trinidad and Tobago - pan player, arranger and composer, “Boogsie” is dedicated to creating music that people from all walks of life can appreciate and enjoy. In addition to being a lauded soloist, he also channels his musical talents through his champion steel orchestra, Phase II Pan Groove.
