Many Hammers, No Steel?
Option in Drum Shortage Crisis for Panmen, Steelbands

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - New hope now lies beyond the drum shortage crisis currently crippling the local Steelpan industry in Trinidad & Tobago.  A local company, CG Packaging Systems Ltd., has stepped forward to especially address and meet the urgent and relevant need for barrels, the raw product used in the manufacture of Steelpans, the country’s national instruments.  CG Packaging Systems is now poised to become the main distributor of 55 gallon drums tailored for manufacturing the steel pan.

CG Packaging Systems

No stranger to the industry, CG Packaging Systems Ltd. has been importing barrels since 2007 for its parent company, Gill’s Pan Shop.  The latter is owned by Merlin “Mutt” Gill, a well-known figure with more than fifty years’ experience in the Pan fraternity.

CG Packaging Systems has successfully addressed the inconsistent drum quality which has plagued the industry for more than 60 years. After more than 15 years of product research, the company has recognized the standards of steel durability, necessary for maximum marketability, shelf life and consistency.

The company is ready to help stabilise the steelpan economy and to assist local panmen in their efforts to improve their professionalism.
